A dozen small and medium Tamil films are ready to be released in the month of August, which is censored and ready to hit the screens.
As per traders, nearly ₹150 crore is going to invest on August Tamil releases.In the list, the first movie is Selvaraghavan’s long waiting Nenjam Marappathillai, Vikram Prabhu’s Neruppu Da, Santhanam’s Server Sundaram, CV Kumar’s Maayavan and a few others trying to get an August release.
The major reason for the August rush hour is that the month has maximum weekends this year.
August 7 (Monday) is Raksha Bandhan, a central government holiday, August 14 is Janmashtami and August 15 (Tuesday) is Independence Day and August 25, a Friday, is Vinayaga Chaturthi.
From the theatre owners view, “It is virtually peak holiday season every weekend with many public holidays. It’s sure to bring family audiences back to the theatres.
Meanwhile, in the list VIP, two is to be released on August 11, and the most expected “Ajithkumar” Vivegam is to be released on August 24th.
Vikram Vedha and Meesaya Murukku are the recent hits and they have revived the box office post-GST and ticket rate hike.
