Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Modi, Union Ministers, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi Azad were also present at the ceremony.

Deepak Mishra, appearing as an advocate in 1977, appealed for cases like civil, criminal, revenue, service and sales tax in the Orissa High Court.

In 1996, he was appointed as Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court and the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 1997.

In 2010, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court judge in October 2011.

Deepak Mishra, who has been in judicial sessions of the Supreme Court, has issued orders for 4 persons to be executed in a case of murdering a woman in Delhi on the 2012 bus run in Delhi and convicting a national anthem in cinema theaters.
