The term of Hameed Ansari, who is the vice president for the 2nd consecutive term, will end on July 10. The election for electing a new vice president is going on today (Saturday). Venkiah Naidu, the former urban development and information broadcaster, has been appointed as the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance coalition. Gopal Krishna Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and former Governor of West Bengal, is contesting on behalf of Congress-led opposition parties.
The special arrangements have been made in parliament for the vote of only two members of the Parliament in the Vice Presidential election. The special polling station will be held from 10 am to 5 pm. Then the vote will be counted in the evening and the decision will be announced at 7pm. Venkaiah Naidu is expected to succeed because of the majority support.
At this stage, Venkyiah Naidu interviewed the AAN news agency before registering his vote, saying: “I have requested all the members to support me tenderly. Everyone is confident that they will support me. I know everyone in Parliament.
Members know me too. I am not competing with any individual or party. I’m competing for the Vice President’s post. I do not belong to any party. Most of the parties in India have supported me. They all believe that they will vote for me, “he said.
