He filed his candidacy for the Legislative Assembly by-election from Panaji which is to be conducted on August 23.
Last March He resigned his post of Defence Minister in the National Democratic Alliance government. After that resignation, he took office as Chief Minister of a Goa under the BJP Government.
After paying the Homage in the popular church and temples in the Panaji, he applied for conducting the election on August 23rd.
Mr. Parrikar said that his victory is “confirmed” and he also in the idea of executing his major plans in Panaji within his ruling period.
He also said that “This is my promise for Panaji. It is not that we will take 365 days to do it. The steps we take here in Panaji over three-four months, the same steps we adopt for other towns, Mapusa, Margao, Ponda, Vasco and other small towns. We will use the Panaji master-plan strategy for these places over five years in phases.
In Panaji, the by-election was necessitated after sitting BJP MLA Sidharth Kuncolienkar resigned after the return of Mr. Parrikar, who is still a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, as Chief Minister.
The election will be conducted in the two constituencies on August 23rd, and The other election will be held in Valpoi assembly constituency of North Goa.
In north goa, the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane was elected in the February general assembly election as a Congress MLA, had resigned to join the BJP. Mr. Rane filed his nomination on Tuesday.
