From June 1, 2017, onwards, Goods and Service Tax (GST) has been implemented across the country.
This includes wheelchairs that can be used by displaced persons, three wheel bicycles, braille paper, and equipment are subjected to the GST. The additional tax is received from the disabling side.
With a strong opposition from the factional faction, the welfare case has now been filed in the Supreme Court to cancel this tax. The petition filed by Niban Malhotra on behalf of the disabled persons, a petition is presented on the front of the Chief Justice JS Gehar and Justice DY Chandrasuddin.
The judges who accepted this petition were ordered to issue a notice to the Union Finance Ministry in response to this issue. Earlier, the judges were reluctant to plead for the petition.
