According to the Sushma Swaraj Speech in the Parliament, Seventy-seven Fishermen from Tamil Nadu has been released by the Sri Lankan navy who has been arrested in different occlusion.

The Fishermen arrived at Karaikal port Today early morning.

The official sources said, “Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, Handlooms Minister O S Manian and family members have received the fisherman in the Karaikal port.

Those fishermen belonged to the areas of Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Nagapattinam and Karaikal districts.

On July 28, The Sri Lankan navy agreed to set free the fishermen, and They handed over the fishermen to Indian authorities near the International Maritime Boundary Line yesterday.

The fishermen were Escorted by the Indian Coast Guard and reached their motherland by today early morning at Karaikal port.

The fisherman, Bridge, was shot dead on March 6 while he was fishing near the Katchatheevu islet by Srilankan Navy.

On March 8, Sri Lanka and India had agreed to release fishermen held in each other’s custody after a high-level discussion between the two sides in Colombo.
